Athrun leaves for PLANT to see his father, the PLANT Supreme Council Chairman Patrick Zala, and ask his true intention in fighting this war. Kira volunteers to escort Athrun’s shuttle with Freedom Gundam. Athrun speaks of his resolution to Kira. Kira understands and bids farewell saying, “You and I…we cannot die yet.”
Athrun, facing his the father, asks the meaning of this war. However he was no longer the father he knew. He tells Athrun what his goal is, with eyes of a psychotic mind. Athrun trembles, appalled. Zala pulls out a gun and points it to his son, demanding repeatedly where the Justice and Freedom Gundams are. Athrun is arrested for treason and taken away.
Athrun is rescued by DaCosta who is leading Lacus’ supporter group. Finally Lacus commence her plan. The group steals the new mobile suit support ship Eternal and escape from PLANT. In the bridge, there stood the former “Desert Tiger”, Waltfeld.
At the L4 colony cluster, members of the Archangel, Kusanagi, and Eternal gather. Leaving the former friend and foe status behind, an independent military force is formed. And Lacus tells Kira about her father, Siegel Clyne’s death, and cries in his arms.
