In Alaska, the Archangel is in a fierce battle with the ZAFT forces. The MS troops loom and surge forward. The main force of the Alliance were sent to the Panama defense so obviously they are facing a challenge. At that time, Mu figures out that the Alaska base was emptied intentionally as planned by the high-ranking military officers. He gets into a undamaged fighter aircraft and looks for the Archangel. The ZAFT forces are gaining a huge advantage. Mu lands on the Archangel and tells Murrue the truth behind the Alaska abandonment. He explains that the Alliance’s plan was to lure in ZAFT and destroy them with the Cyclops System set up deep underneath the base, which will detonate and disintegrate everything within the radius, regardless of their own casualties. Murrue is shocked. She decides to begin a full withdrawal from the combat zone. The Archangel tries to escape but loses its opportunity, and gets surrounded by the ZAFT forces. Blocked by the GINNs, there is no way out. Just then, a-never-seen-before Gundam appears in front of them with its wings spread out wide… There stood Freedom Gundam, piloted by Kira.
Kira opens a channel to both Alliance and ZAFT forces and tells them to retreat from the combat waters. And shortly after, with a blinding flash of light and an ear splitting roar, the Alaska base is swallowed by a great ball of fire and completely disintegrates.
