Upon atmospheric re-entry, to save Strike Gundam after the battle with Duel Gundam, the Archangel was diverted off course and have ended up in Africa, which is ZAFT territory.
Though rescued, Kira is greatly damaged and collapses with high fever. Surprisingly, Flay takes care and nurses Kira back to health. Being a Coordinator, Kira shows astounding recovery.
However, when he sees the small origami Flay brought to him, Kira falls into panic. The origami was a gift from the little girl who was in the shuttle, destroyed in front of Kira. Flay gently comforts the half-crazed Kira like a loving mother. The two become close. But Flay has an alternative motive. “Kira will fight, and fight, until he dies…” mutters Flay. It was not a caring heart, but a dark flame of revenge that was within the innermost depths of her heart.
Meanwhile, there is a group of guerillas outside staring at the Archangel. One of them is a girl, Cagalli Yula Athha…the girl who Kira met amid the fires of battle at Heliopolis…
