STRICT-G, the apparel shop that features the world of GUNDAM, will release Hawaiian shirts on Saturday, July 31, through a collaboration between Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway and Char’s Counterattack with PAIKAJI, an Okinawan brand that makes domestically produced Hawaiian shirts.
PAIKAJI offers Hawaiian shirts that are sewed using technology originally developed for dress shirts and use their original fabric made with unique colors and designs. These shirts are completely made in Okinawa, and their exotic, bold prints and made-in-Japan meticulous quality has earned a lot of praise.
Both Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway and Char’s Counterattack shirts are designed with the Hawaiian Shirt VS. Palm Leaf design which boldly uses palm leaves for a tropical, graphic feel. On the left and right sides of the shirt are MS in battle as well as related emblems. The shirts are available in muted colors for a classy feel.
The fabric has an irregular roughness to it from fibers crossing in order to improve breathability. This fabric is thick butcher’s cloth, which has a hemp-like appearance. It is woven and treated in Japan for assured quality. Making sure the design lands in the planned location requires great skill, and as a result the body of the shirt and the chest pocket are points where the design connects. All of these details make up a delicate yet high quality shirt.
