Discussing the Unknown Backstory of Gundam x Cuisine! Sunrise’s Producer, Ogata, Talks About the GUNDAM Café’s 5 Ultimate Reproduced Meals That He Wants to Eat

The GUNDAM Café Try Them All! Recreated Meal Festival, part of the GUNDAM Café Thank You Project is currently underway at GUNDAM Café and GUNDAM SQUARE.

This event offers various meals, centered around Recreated Meals, which are the GUNDAM Café’s renowned recreations of meals that appear in the Gundam series and in the shape of Mobile Suits. These dishes were perfected after ensuring the size of the ingredients, the amount of food, the layout of the plate, the texture of the dishware, and the background of the era matched the scenes in the series where the meal originally appeared, so the execution of these meals has earned the Café’s self-proclaimed moniker of “The Ultimate Recreated Meals.” The quality of the dishes became a hot topic on social media, and it seems like a lot of people have said that they’ve seen them before. New dishes will be added for round two starting on Wednesday, January 5th, for a full lineup of 45 Recreated Meals.

These meals are so rich that there may be people who recoil from the sight of them.
Unfortunately, all GUNDAM Café stores will be closing on Sunday, January 30, 2022 (with GUNDAM SQUARE closing on Monday, January 10), so you may never be able to eat these meals if you let this chance pass you by.

The G-INFO editorial staff was afraid of missing out, so we asked Naohiro Ogata, a producer from Sunrise who has worked on many Gundam series including Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway to choose which five dishes he wanted to try. Which are the five dishes he chose as a producer and as a fan? We learned a lot about the untold behind-the-scenes stories of anime production and the care the GUNDAM Café menu was created with, so hopefully this information can help you choose what to eat during your visit!

The GUNDAM Café Thank You Project is being held at every GUNDAM Café store. This project features various events with the theme of gratitude for every visitor to the GUNDAM Café over the past twelve years.
Along with the Try Them All! Recreated Meals Festival, the Memorial Menu event featuring previous meals that were very popular, Commemorative Coasters featuring new, specially created illustrations of 24 different characters, sales of commemorative goods, and more.

There may be a full house at certain times of day, so make sure to make a reservation before you stop by.

New drinks and food will be added to the Try Them All! Recreated Meals Festival as part of the second round starting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
The 8 new dishes are from a variety of series: Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, Mobile Suit Gundam V Gundam, After War Gundam X, and Gundam Reconguista in G.
Of course, the dishes from round one are still available, so please visit to try them all out.
