GNF -YOKOHAMA BASE- Photo Report: MARK IS Minatomirai, the Minatomirai Line, and the Yokohama Landmark Tower Version

The YOKOHAMA BASE of the special event GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE（GNF）-BASE SERIES-, which focuses on exhibits for Mobile Suit Gundam THE WITCH FROM MERCURY and can be enjoyed by all Gundam fans, started in areas around Yokohama, Kanagawa on Saturday, July 16th. It is mostly free to participate.

This event is taking place at venues around the Yokohama Bay area, such GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA (GFY), Minatomirai Line stations, and shopping facilities such as Yokohama Landmark Tower and MARK IS Minatomirai. Various programs are being held, such as introductions for Mobile Suit Gundam THE WITCH FROM MERCURY, viewings of the prologue to the series, displays of the latest products, and a YOKOHAMA BASE stamp rally from which you can receive limited edition items.

■Minatomirai Tube B3 Floor Concourse Outside of the Ticket Gate / MARK IS Minatomirai Subway B4 Floor Ekimae Hiroba
An impressive GUNPLA 1/1 Gundam Head is being displayed in Mirai Tube, the concourse on the B3 level of Minatomirai Station outside of the ticket gate.
Two-meter-high statues of the Sazabi and Banshee can be seen at the Ekimae Hiroba on the B4 floor of the MARK IS Minatomirai building right next to the station.

■MARK IS Minatomirai 2nd Floor Burari Gallery
The Gundam R (Recycle) Project can be viewed at the Burari Gallery. It is only open on weekends and holidays.

■Landmark Plaza 1st Floor Sakata no Tane Garden Square
A seven-meter-tall balloon of the main MS of THE WITCH FROM MERCURY, the Gundam Aerial, is being displayed for the first time ever at Sakata no Tane Garden Square. A special performance with video and lights is played every hour and on the half hour, so make sure you time your visit so you can see it.

■Landmark Plaza 1st Floor Festival Square
Two-meter-tall statues of Gundams, including the Gundam Aerial, have gathered in the Festival Square. A total of six Gundams are being displayed: the Unicorn Gundam, the G-Self, the Gundam Barbatos, the vGundam, the 00 Gundam, and the RX-78-2 Gundam. Enjoy taking photos with each of them.
Also, don’t forget to check out the display of the latest THE WITCH FROM MERCURY-related items, such as GUNPLA and Gundam figures, at the same venue.

■Yokohama Landmark Tower 69th Floor Observation Deck - Sky Garden
At the Sky Garden observation deck on the 69th floor, there is a display of a large GUNPLA statue modeled after GFY's "Moving Gundam" (RX-78F00 Gundam), a display for items related to the life-sized Gundam statue, and a corner introducing works from the Gundam series.

At the series introduction corner, key visuals from generations of Gundam series are on display in chronological order, covering not only Mobile Suit Gundam but also Reconguista in G, the 4th movie of which will be released soon, and the latest work, THE WITCH FROM MERCURY.

Also, you can view all of Yokohama’s bay from Sky Garden. Although it wasn't sunny on the day we visited, we were able to see GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA where the Moving Gundam can be found.

■Landmark Plaza 3rd Floor Passageway
The Gundam R (Recycle) Project 2022 is being held in the Landmark Plaza’s 3rd floor passageway.
The Ecopla 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Workshop Kit Ver., a plastic model created from recycled products, and a special booklet will be distributed free of charge, providing an opportunity to learn about recycling.
This venue has a booth where you can actually assemble the GUNPLA. By placing the runners (the frames the plastic model parts come in) in the collection box yourself, recycling becomes something familiar. There are also exhibits about efforts to recycle GUNPLA.
