Summer 2022 Overseas Event Mini Report is a short series that introduces events held outside of Japan this summer.
In this second article, we offer a sneak peek into SMASH!, an event held for two days (July 16th/17th) at the International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Sydney, Australia.

SMASH! is an annual convention that began in 2007, and is an event for fans of Japanese pop culture with a focus on manga and anime. Various attractions such as talk stages featuring guest speakers, workshops, cosplay events, and sales events by fans and artists can be enjoyed.

This was the first event in three years since 2019, and booths were set up to introduce the latest Gundam TV series Mobile Suit Gundam THE WITCH FROM MERCURY, alongside GUNPLA assembly workshops and GUNPLA-related exhibits and sales.
There was also an exhibition featuring masterpieces from all over Australia that were submitted to the GUNPLA Builders World Cup 10th Tournament.

The venue was packed with countless Gundam and GUNPLA fans who enjoyed the event.
