Screening theaters countrywide for the Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN IV Eve of Destiny 2-week screening event are being visited by staff and cast members and will end on December 2nd (Fri.) Stage greetings were held at TOHO Cinemas Nihonbashi in Tokyo on November 27th (Sun.)
On this day, Mr. Shuuichi Ikeda, voice of Char Aznable, Ms. Saori Hayami, voice of Lalah Sune, Mr. Toru Furuya, voice of Amuro Ray, and Ms. Misato Fukuen, voice of Fraw Bow, went up on stage.
It has been 10 years since Mr. Ikeda and Mr. Furuya last stood together for stage greetings within the Gundam series for Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam: A New Translation.
The venue was a full house despite the event being in its 2nd week and the cast had words of gratitude. Mr. Furuya revealed his happiness with a familiar renown line, “I couldn’t be happier!”
He then further said, “As my role was small in episodes 2 and 3, I hadn’t appeared on stage for the greetings. But, because of that, I’m also happy to be able to come up on stage this time for episode 4,” and commented that, “I felt small since I only had about 3 lines in episode 1,” which induced laughter from the audience.
Next, the conversation shifted to the recording for the episode. Ms. Hayami said, “When I first met Mr. Ikeda and he had quickly held his hand out, it was then that I felt the fate Lalah felt in Char. It felt like I was gripped by the chest and I was overwhelmed with emotion.”
Then, when she told Mr. Ikeda of the kindness she felt in Char during this episode, he responded, revealing that, “It’s because you’re Lalah.”
Next, Ms. Fukuen spoke of the time when she told Mr. Furuya that her role had been decided. He had said, “Fraw, huh~” and she thought, from the way he had said it, that “Fraw is properly being loved by Amuro.”
At this, Mr. Furuya responded, “He properly loves her, you know?” and added, “At least, until he meets Matilda,” once again exciting the audience.
Lastly, the stage greetings ended with each person saying a few words.
Misato Fukuen (Fraw Bow)
There was a time when I had to retake Fraw’s crying scene numerous times. At that time, Mr. Furuya had said for me to hear, “Fraw, by crying, makes Amuro pamper her,” and, because of that, I could record without hesitation.
It seems that Fraw’s feelings that have grown inside of me won’t settle for quite a while yet. I think it would be great if I can voice her again.
Toru Furuya (Amuro Ray)
In episode 4, Amuro has finally peeked into his father’s room and that will, at last, act as his connection to the first Gundam. However, if neither episode 5 and 6 of the Loum Arc continue on to be huge successes, then there will be no additional episodes beyond that point. I would like to ask for everyone to continue supporting the series.
Saori Hayami (Lalah Sune)
From here on, the origin of Gundam’s history will begin. I’m very happy that I could take part in THE ORIGIN in this episode and from now on in the future.
I, myself, am watching the series each time with my heart filled with emotion from the characters’ entangled fate. Although it will be close to a year until the next episode, I, with the same feelings as everyone else, am looking forward to the continuation.
Shuuichi Ikeda (Char Aznable)
Although we will have to wait for a little while, it is thanks to everyone here that the Loum Arc can be made.
I will also burn red and try my best. We will definitely make this into a great work, so I ask for everyone here to continue supporting us from now on and in the future.
