Director Yoshiyuki Tomino, who has created original animations such as the "Gundam" series "Mobile Suit Gundam" and "Gundam Reconguista in G", as well as "Space Runaway Ideon" and "Aura Battler Dunbine", has influenced both the domestic and foreign anime scenes, and will have the premiere exhibition "The World of Yoshiyuki Tomino" at the Fukuoka Art Museum starting June 22, 2019 (Sat).
At the venue, you can view 55 years of Tomino's work, from when he first joined Mushi Production and was involved in "Astro Boy", to the present. Each work's visual characteristics, from the hand-written storyboards and the accompanying creators design plans, sketches, and cels used in production, are all certified originals.
Also, it features the multiple activies and talents of the director, such as stories that delve into the realm of their works, lyrics from theme songs, and talks with people in various fields. Through the era and influence it has had on people, it is an exhibition that unravels the director's message.
After the opening ceremonies, there were also previews. Director Tomino checks the contents until the very last moment, in preparation for the opening. When the exhibition started, a long line of visitors formed. It could be seen how they were keenly examining each of the exhibits.
The exhibition will be held at the Fukuoka Art Museum until September 1, 2019 (Sun). Afterwards, it will tour the entire country and visit Hyogo, Shimane, Aomori, Toyama, and arrive at the Shizuoka Prefectural Museum of Art from September 2020.
