Fight 2v2 battles with the new Partner System in "Super Robot Wars UX" for 3DS!
Plus, see battle shots of previously-unrevealed units!
New battle scenes featuring unannounced units and details on the 2v2 "Partner Battle System" for Super Robot Wars UX, due out March 14th from Namco Bandai Games, have been released.
Super Robot Wars UX is a massive crossover of some of your favorite mecha series, mashing up favorites in a player-versus-computer strategy RPG.
This is the first time character voicing will be available on a Nintendo handheld, and will also take advantage of the 3DS's naked-eye 3D capabilities for more exciting battles than ever!
■ Fight 2v2 battles with the Partner Battle System!
In this title, players can combine two units into a single Partner Unit, which moves and attacks as one and receives several attack and defense bonuses.
Partner Units can be joined together on the field of battle by selecting one unit and joining it with a nearby ally. Partner Units return to a single unit when one of their members it shot down, or when players swap out one of the units.
Both partner and player units have advanages and disadvantages, so use both at the tactical situation dictates!
<Partner Unit>
Partner Units are composed of a main and sub unit, with the main unit marticipating in movement and attacks while the sub unit attacks and defends.
[Attacking]
Partner Units get an optional extra followup attack from the sub unit.
If attacking another Partner Unit, you can choose to focus on its main unit, sub, or split attacks, and your own sub unit can participate without any special skills.
As a single unit, units with the skill Support Attack can follow up neighboring allies' attacks.
[Defending]
As a Partner Unit, when your enemy makes a focused attack on either main or sub, the non-targeted unit can attempt to defend its partner. The skill Support Defense is necessary.
If the enemy splits their attack, both units are attacked, and only a counterattack (or evasion or guarding) is available. The defending side's counterattack option is chosen based on the attacking side's.
A focused attack will be countered with one on the main unit, while a split attack will be countered with a split.
[Movement and Swapping]
The main unit's movement speed and type is used, so it's possible to pair a speedy, flying main with a slow but powerful sub.
The Swap command lets you switch main and sub assignments.
[Partner Unit attacks]
Even if the sub unit pilot doesn't have levels in Support Attack, if they have a weapon that can target the enemy, they can use it. However, the Partner Unit is unable to receive Support Attacks from a nearby ally.
[Partner Unit defense]
Partner Units can Support Defend their other member under the following conditions:
・ The unit has the "Support Defense" skill, and remaining uses that turn.
・ The unit supporting unit can enter the supported unit's terrain.
・ The partner unit fails its attempt to evade.
・ The supported unit would be destroyed even if it guards.
<Single Unit>
Single, unpaired units can support attack or defend neighboring allies with sufficient levels in Support Attack or Support Defense.
Along with this, under certain conditions, units can Move Again after destroying an enemy or attack an entire enemy Partner Unit with an All Attack.
However, both Move Again and All Attack require pilot skills.
