The head of the Gundam of the Moving Gundam Project has docked with the body!
The process to connect the head and body of the Gundam at Yokohama Yamashita-Futo took place on Tuesday, July 29th, and the main section of the Gundam was finally complete. Its motions will then be tuned until the grand opening of the facility.
Various motions to recreate poses, such as the Last Shooting from Mobile Suit Gundam (broadcast in 1979) where the right arm is raised, and a pose resembling the Turn A Gundam from Turn A Gundam (broadcast in 1999), are being planned.
Footage where the head docks with the body and a few poses can be seen in the GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Progress Report Meeting video, so be sure to check it out.
GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA Backstory
The Birth of the RX-78F00 GUNDAM
The RX-78-2 GUNDAM activated in Space Colony Side 7 in U.C. (Universal Century) 0079.
It went through numerous battles during the One Year War as the MS of Amuro Ray, a pilot of the Earth Federation Forces.
It has been said that it was lost in the fierce battle of A Baoa Qu.
A large number of parts that resemble those from RX-78 type Mobile Suits were then found near GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA, a facility associated with the Earth Federation Forces in the Far East Asia region.
Yokohama had been a terminal port for large cargo since the Common Era and it may have been the perfect place for secretly transporting/storing large MS parts on Earth.
However, there were no records of the parts of the RX-78 type MS that were discovered.
Therefore, engineers from various fields secretly gathered at GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA to examine technical information. It took a long time to research, analyze, and reconstruct the numerous parts that were stored individually.
The process was similar to developing a new GUNDAM.
There were some parts that couldn’t be found and no information related to Minovsky Crafts was found.
After approx. two years of research and development, the activation test for the reconstructed MS will finally take place at the GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA!
The staff involved in the development settled on calling it the RX-78F00.
