Experience SoftBank’s 5G! GFY Offers “Gundam Pilot View,” a VR Dome in GFY that Allows a Sweeping View of Yokohama!

This is a VR dome that exhibits “GUNDAM-LAB,” a facility in which you can enjoy and learn about the mechanisms of the Moving Gundam inside GFY. The GUNDAM Pilot View SoftBank 5G EXPERIENCE uses a 5G connection to share the view of the 18-meter-tall Moving Gundam in real time.
When you stand on the foot sensor in front of the screen in the VR Dome and manipulate the control panel, you will see a simulation video of you walking toward the cockpit. Besides feeling as if you are sitting in the Gundam’s cockpit as you enjoy a sweeping view of Yokohama, you can also enjoy navigation from voice actors and actresses from the world of Gundam.
Everyone who visits GFY can experience for themselves the clear view free of Minovsky particles and the Yokohama scenery that only the pilot of the life-sized Moving Gundam can see.

--What did you focus on most with this illustration?
I wanted to show dynamic action movements while expressing the Gundam’s massive bulk.
Also, this is a traditional pose that many Gundam fans are used to seeing, but it is also similar to heroes’ poses in recent American comics, so I hope it appeals to a wide audience.

--Which of the Moving Life-Sized Gundam’s parts did you focus on while drawing?
The new Gundam’s design has unique chest, joint, and small foot part arrangements, so I tried to show those parts off.
I was able to imagine the power and movement of the life-sized Gundam when it actually moves more easily than ever before, so I had fun drawing it.
