Everyone's first Gunpla
- My first Gundam kit is the Original HGUC RX-78 -2 Gundam, it started from there
- Building my first Gunpla, the EG Strike Gundam, was what got me into building Model Kits
- As a 90s kid in the US with Gundam Wing on Cartoon Network as my introduction to Gundam, one of my fondest memories was saving up my part time job and gift money to buy my very first Gunpla from Toys R Us when it was still around. Love that first build, a Deathcythe 1/100 HG
- I think I remember my first gunpla being the HG Hy-Gogg. I was still very young, it was probably 20-25 years ago. We walked into a dusty little hobby store on a family road trip where my parents said I could get a toy to keep me occupied on the trip. I hadn't watched much Gundam by that point, but I immediately recognized the Zeon "mono eye" MS style and picked that one. I think I clipped it out with pliers or scissors, bashed the pieces together, forgetting parts along the way. No decals whatsoever. But I played with that Hy-Gogg for hours and hours and hours. Many years after that family road trip. It's joints were loose and limbs falling off from all the play (same with my HG God Gundam, when I got that one a couple years later). Unfortunately I don't know what happened to my old Hy Gogg but it's still to this day one of my favorite suits of all time, and I have a brand new copy of that same box on my shelf, waiting for me to really do the kit justice.
They are all a great lineup.
What was your first Gunpla?
If you haven't built one yet, we encourage you to try our Entry Grade models.
It will be an encounter that will inspire you to create something new.
Favorite Gunpla!
- The MG Sword Impulse is so cool! It’s the most playable model kit I’ve ever seen. It can easily hold the two gigantic anti-ship swords independently or dual-bladed. I’ve had mine for 15 years and its joints haven’t weakened one bit.
- Earthree Gundam. I don’t care what anyone says or thinks, it just looks so cool and is great.
- Building the MG Dynames and then taking pictures of it and my old HG Dynames like they were father and son.
What is your favorite Gunpla?
・I like it because of the anime!
・I fell in love with the design of MS at first sight!

There are as many special Mobile Suits as there are fans.
Cherished memories of Gunpla
- My best memory is building Endless Waltz models with my Ojiichan in his workshop room on the upper floor of their house as a teenager. I'm a much older man now. He has been dead for years now and I have moved across an ocean and continent from that small town in Hokkaido, but when I look at those models I remember those hot, humid, summer days that seemed to go on forever. I remember a time where childhood dreams seems so close to becoming reality and my patient Ojiichan that was alway willing to help build or fix broken parts. I took for granted that it would all always be there.
- One of my first kits was the HG 00 Quanta, and I built that at a local gunpla meet. I was still fairly young, but everyone there was super nice and welcoming to me despite me probably being a bit annoying lmaooo. They taught a lot of things to me and the Quanta is still one of my favorite kits to this day
- One of my favorite gunpla memories was making a Star Build Strike for my little brother after watching build fighters. I also got the gp base stand. I wrote my name in as the builder and his name as the fighter. He still keeps it on his desk
- My best, and currently only, memory is building my first Gunpla, an RG Sinanju. My husband got it for me for my birthday (this year). It's by no means particularly good, it's obviously a newbie build, but my god the hours of fun I had zoned out snipping those runners, slowly filing, and putting it together. Watching it form in my hands little by little, and the pain in my fingertips after day 2 of handling all of those tiny tiny parts for hours, it's second only to my son's 1st birthday in terms of top memories so far this year.
- Was a big fan of gunpla for most of my childhood but stopped building around 13-14 yo, im 21 now and recently got back into gunpla. Picked up an airbrush last year and i couldnt believe how much better my gunpla look with minimal effort.
