It was announced on January 30, 2019 (Wed) that as part of the "Mobile Suit Gundam 40th Anniversary Project", the gundams appearing in "Mobile Suit Gundam 40th Anniversary Commemoration KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN Gunpla Project Special Movie" and the gunpla collaborations with "12 Professional Baseball Teams" and "Uniqlo" will be released sequentially by BANDAI SPIRITS.

The gundam designed by"KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN", led by industrial designer Ken Okuyama, appears, and LDH JAPAN will release the songs that appear in the "Mobile Suit Gundam 40th Anniversary Commemoration KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN Gunpla Project Special Movie" that has been produced, and the "RX-78-2 Gundam" that appears in the movie will be released as a plastic model kit.

For this project, the world-wide successful Ken Okuyama approaches gundam imagining it as a real product and approaches the design both from a "video" and as a "gunpla" point of view. Gunpla that can express action linked to the video is currently under development (Release date, price unknown.)

■Commentary from industrial designer Ken Okuyama

As a designer, Gundam had a large influence on me, and based on the structure and system of industrial design, a real-world application of the design was performed. It is the "succession" of the RX-78 and a true "evolution". Please look forward to it.

For the "12 Professional Baseball Team" collaboration, during the 2019 season, there will be the deployment and collaboration of various products at various stadiums. At BANDAI SPIRITS, 12 team branded gunpla will be made, and beginning April 2019 each team's gunpla will be released. Further details will be announced from each team.
