The special cover feature of Monthly Hobby Japan February 2022 issue introduces new expressions or "Iki-Painting" that incorporates traditional Japanese art such as kimono dyeing (colors), ukiyo-e, and lacquer painting!
In addition to the six modelers led by Nobuyuki Sakurai, we will explain this new painting method found at the 24th All Japan Ora Zaku Championship. Each layer is carefully applied making it a method that is the exact opposite of recent time saving trends. The first masterpiece of the special feature uses kimono style painting expressions with the motif of the RX-78-2 Gundam crafted by Mr. Nobuyuki Sakurai. We will explain how this stylish painting method pursues the beauty of Japanese clothes reminiscent of kimono for special occasions!

Introducing the realism and fanciful world of Ohtagaki Mechas through model kits!
The second special feature is Yasuo Ohtagaki Mechanics, the Mobile Suits that appear in his manga series Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt have been recreated with plastic model kits!
