The long-awaited "GUNDAM METAVERSE 3rd Limited Time Opening" is finally scheduled for next week. GUNDAM METAVERSE will stay open from December 4th (Wed) to 8th (Sun). This time there will be a collaborative live performance with Hatsune Miku, as well as a METAVERSE shop. You can enjoy various exhibitions, including content contributed by the Gundam fan community.

The GUNDAM.INFO editorial department was offered a sneak peek of the latest version of GUNDAM METAVERSE, which has been preparing for its limited-time opening. We would like to share some details of our experience.
Starting off with an overview of the METAVERSE space, we also have some details on the highly anticipated Hatsune Miku collaborative live event, so make sure to read the article until the very end.

You can enjoy the "GUNDAM METAVERSE 3rd Limited Time Opening" with your PC, and just like last time, anyone can easily access it from web browsers such as Chrome and Edge. Whether you have a high-spec gaming machine or a regular PC, the METAVERSE is ready to be accessed easily and quickly by anyone.

Once you've accessed the GUNDAM METAVERSE, the first thing you'll do is create an avatar to represent yourself in the virtual world. From the main lobby, you will be able to move to and access various content in different areas. There are familiar elements for those who have participated in previous limited-time openings, but both the avatars and the main lobby have been significantly revamped. Let's start by explaining the basics first.

This time, the avatar customization feature has been greatly updated. Not only can you customize your avatar's body shape, hairstyle, facial hair and skin color, but you can also equip it with helmets resembling MS heads, weapons, shields and backpack modules as well. Other than that, as a celebration for the collaboration with Hatsune Miku, GUNDAM METAVERSE also prepared some avatar items such as leek-shaped glow sticks and happi coats.

During this 3rd opening, the floating ability for avatars from the previous release has been changed to a jumping mechanic. With this feature, you can jump over certain objects like hedges and stairs when visiting the main lobby. The METAVERSE includes emotes, so you can express your feelings through actions.

In addition to the chat, a letter feature has been implemented to allow users to attach messages to specific locations. If you are familiar with certain online games, it can be likened to leaving traces of your activity on the map.

Camera mode has been around in the METAVERSE for a while, helping users to record their experiences with pictures. This time, it also enables users to have a wider view of their surroundings. If you want to check some hard-to-see spots, don’t forget to make use of this feature.

This time, the main lobby is in the style of a space colony. Through the ceiling, you can see a view of neighborhoods on the other side of the colony, making for an immersive experience. There are various mobile suit statues lined up outdoors, and you can go right up to the base of some of them.

Floating in the air, digital signage resembling advertisements serve as markers, silently indicating what can be found there.

The main lobby is particularly noteworthy; it's fun to just take some time and appreciate it. For example, there is a Zock standing in an aquarium in the main lobby, and there's a little viewing spot to look at it from the side, as if you're hiding out while observing it.

The main lobby is filled with familiar street arts inspired by the various GUNDAM series, such as vehicles, decorations, and advertisements from well-known companies in the Gundam universe. You can even find replicas of famous places from the real world.

Mellow, an AI character that can engage in conversation. Feel free to stay with Mellow to practice chatting or to ask about the METAVERSE.

A theater where you can enjoy visual content such as promotional videos. Here you can also find statues of a Zaku II F Type Solari and the Gundam EX from "Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance”.

A Carddass vending machine is installed in the main lobby. Expansion packs have been added to the line-up, including cards from chapters I & II of the series, featuring Knight Gundam. Furthermore, a Carddass Gallery function has also been implemented, so be sure to try collecting them all.

The shop is back for the first time since the 1st limited time opening. You can purchase Gundam-related products and Hatsune Miku-themed collaborative items while viewing the items on display.

The map displays the main lobby and the locations of various other contents. In terms of size, let’s say the whole place is equivalent to a large park or a tourist attraction.

As part of the special collaboration with Hatsune Miku, a METAVERSE live event will also be held this time. Anyone can enjoy this live performance by logging into the GUNDAM METAVERSE.

For this collaborative live, Hatsune Miku will be performing 4 pieces of music, including her popular “Senbonzakura” and “World is Mine”, as well as “Tobe! GUNDAM”, the opening theme of the very first GUNDAM series and “FLYING IN THE SKY” from “Mobile Fighter G Gundam”, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. There's about 20 minutes of material in total.
Please note that the live event is conducted in real-time, so late entry is not allowed (although exiting is possible), and the audience must be inside the venue before the start of the event. The live performance itself is scheduled to be held regularly, don't forget to check the schedule and enter the venue in advance.

Venue for the collaborative live. Audience members around the central stage can use their avatar's emotes to cheer on Miku. As a unique feature of events held in METAVERSE space, Hatsune Miku will always be facing towards you no matter your position.

The stage and the background will change with each song. During the climax of "FLYING IN THE SKY”, Shining Gundam will start a wardance in front of the Earth covered in beam ropes! Definitely a must-see!

Another highlight this time is METAVERSE’s attempt to "co-create" content with users, with GUNPLAs at the center. In addition to the digital diorama from the GUNPLA world championship, a variety of fan-made content will be exhibited, including GUNPLAs created by the community, as well as experimental works such as the smartphone based “SMARTPHONE GUNPLA SCAN β".

The digital diorama includes high-definition scans of award-winning models from the official "GUNPLA BUILDERS WORLD CUP 11th TOURNAMENT", giving viewers a unique, immersive experience only available in the GUNDAM METAVERSE. This time, 6 digital dioramas will be showcased.

The background of the diorama exhibition space is decorated according to each work. In addition, some of the works even have animations to create a dynamic visual experience, such as rising smoke. Don’t miss these unique dioramas when you’re visiting the METAVERSE.

Works by GUNPLA clubs in the GUNPLA community, as well as photos of their GUNPLAs posted on SNS, are presented here, just like an exhibition from a museum. It is also possible to leave a reaction to the works. Hard to imagine, but the number of works here is more than 1,000 pieces. The theme of the exhibition will change periodically, and the works on display will change accordingly.

This time, GUNDAM METAVERSE will be exhibiting works from a total of 5 GUNPLA clubs.

The photo exhibition of the museum. You can enjoy various GUNPLA photos while exploring exhibition rooms filled with unique gimmicks that are only possible in the METAVERSE.

The photo gallery features a different theme each day.

Works imported using the beta service “SMARTPHONE GUNPLA SCAN β”, which converts GUNPLA photographed with a smartphone into 3D models, are also being exhibited with a total of over 20 models.

Without a doubt, one of the most highly anticipated uses of scanned GUNPLA data has to be the possibility of real GUNPLA battles. During this opening, you can experience a mini game using a selection of scanned GUNPLAs. It may eventually be possible to play with a GUNPLA of your own, but this time users will still be choosing from GUNPLA works prepared in advance by volunteers.
The game has two modes: "Run Action" for solo play, and “3-on-3 Battle" for team combat. In this report, we will be focusing more on the cooperative “3-on-3 Battle", while introducing both modes.

In the single-player mode called "Run Action," the player can choose from 20 different GUNPLAs. These are also scanned GUNPLAs created by users.

Defeat the enemies that appear around the colony and in space and obtain bonuses such as Haros and recovery items. The objective is to defeat Musai, the final boss of the game.

As its name suggests, "3-on-3 Battle" is a 3-member team battle among players. In addition, NPC enemies will also join the battle, making it a three-way unconventional match. Other than PVP battles, a training mode is also available to level up your skills for GUNPLA maneuvering.

The battle result is determined by users’ score, which can be obtained by defeating enemies or winning raid battles. Score that can be obtained will increase over time, so it is crucial to decide when to make a move.

Player's units and most of the enemy GUNPLAs will start off at small size, but there will also be big-sized NPC enemies and raid boss GUNPLA which are even larger. By meeting certain conditions, players' GUNPLAs can temporarily power up to big size, allowing for versatile battles.

The gigantic raid boss GUNPLA, is a powerful enemy worth a lot of score points. Facing it by yourself will be very difficult so cooperation with allies is advised. Skilled players are encouraged to challenge themselves to defeat it within the time limit.

Scheduled to start on December 4th (Wed), the GUNDAM METAVERSE 3rd Limited Time Opening felt like the data and feedback given by users from the two previous openings had been used to great effect to update the whole experience.
