What’s So Great About Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz?

Endless Waltz is the sequel to the original and iconic 49-episode series Gundam Wing and quickly became a well-loved three-episode OVA to a movie. The movie follows up one year after Gundam Wing’s ending. It follows the main protagonist, Heero Yuy, as he and other pilots fight against a group planning to conquer Earth.

So what’s great about Endless Waltz? Let’s take a trip down memory lane. Fair warning - minor spoilers ahead!

The redesigns of all major Mobile Suits are absolutely phenomenal. While all Mobile Suits in Endless Waltz are the same as the anime series, you may have recognized they all received an updated look. From Heavyarms Customs, Wing Zero, and more, these popular units received a stylized upgrade that further reflected their original designs.

One of the most famous redesigns is Wing Zero, which is known for its beautifully iconic angelic-like wings. Whether for battle or for show, these wings allowed Wing Zero to stand out on ANY battlefield.

Deathscythe Hell got a demonic upgrade with a bat-like wing cloak that allows it go invisible and has anti-beam coating. Pretty OP, right? Heavyarms Custom’s upgrade also increased its armament giving it a TON more missiles and machine guns.

From these 3 notable Gundam to Tallgeese III and all the other Mobile Suits, Endless Waltz showcases its Mobile Suit with undeniable finesse.

Endless Waltz dives deeper into multiple characters’ backstories from the TV series. It elaborates upon the current conflict the characters experience which ties directly to the TV series and “Operation Meteor.” Not only do we see into the past of our protagonist, Heero, but also the other Gundam pilots we’ve seen throughout the series. This all adds up to one final conflict to see if the world can move towards peace. With these stories and the twist and turns throughout the plot, the series is worth re-watching alongside Endless Waltz.

Everything. From the characters, the upgraded Mobile Suit designs, the soundtrack, and everything in between. Endless Waltz is a one-of-a-kind experience that many Gundam Wing fans hold in their hearts.
