Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN IV Eve of Destiny began its 2-week screening event at 15 theaters countrywide on November 19th with staff and cast stage greetings taking place at Shinjuku Picadilly in Tokyo on opening day.
On stage this day was Mr. Shuuichi Ikeda (Char Aznable), Ms. Saori Hayami (Lalah Sune), Mr. Shigeo Kiyama (Ramba Ral), Ms. Akeno Watanabe (Kycilia Zabi), Ms. Hiroko Moriguchi, who was responsible for the theme song, and lastly General Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. They expressed their gratitude to the many fans crowding the theater.
The mic was first handed to cast members that have recorded in the series since its first episode, beginning with Mr. Ikeda’s comment, “Although the Char and Sayla arc has concluded, there is still more to come, so hold out for a little longer.” Each actor also made comments concerning the changes in each of their respective characters. Mr. Kiyama said, “At last, the mobile suits have been completed. Doesn’t feel like they’ll lose, huh?” and Ms. Watanabe said, “Time has passed by so quickly since episode 1. Kycilia also feels more and more evil…”
On the other hand, Ms. Hayami, who joined the cast for the first time in episode 4, said, “I was nervous when I recorded for the episode since I’m a newcomer. But, when we were recording, I heard Mr. Ikeda’s voice next to me and I was overwhelmed with emotions.”
Ms. Moriguchi, who sang the theme song for episode 4, enthusiastically said, “I sang the theme song for Gundam when I was in my teens, so I’m very happy that I was able to sing for the series again in my 40s with THE ORIGIN. It’s a song packed with many feelings and wishes for peace so I would like to sing it with all my heart.” General Director Yasuhiko responded with, “As episode 4 ends darkly, I thought that it might be okay even without music. But I listened to comments from the staff and I believe it was a good decision to add the theme song.”
When it came to who to offer it to at the time, it seems like it was said that “Ms. Moriguchi is Gundam’s goddess” and that definitely may be so.
Next, the conversation turned to the announcement of episode 5, “Clash, Battle of Loum,” which will have its screening in Fall 2017 and episode 6, “Birth of the Red Comet,” in 2018. Director Yasuhiko said, “Fall 2017 will roughly be a year from now, but I would like to make it so the wait between episode 5 and 6 isn’t too long.” He the continued with this powerful comment, “Even Char is on the verge of becoming red now, but he will completely become red in episode 6. Please look forward to it.”
Lastly, each person gave brief comments and the stage greetings ended with great success.
Akeno Watanabe (Kycilia Zabi)
Thank you so, so very much.
I’m happy to be able to create THE ORIGIN and stand here today.
From here on, Kycilia will become more and more sinister so please look forward to it.
Shigeo Kiyama (Ramba Ral)
Although it seems like Ramba is called the “Blue Giant,” I wonder if he will become the giant in the Loum Arc?
I am personally looking forward to the Loum Arc!
Saori Hayami (Lalah Sune)
I’m also happy that I’m able to create THE ORIGIN together with everyone here from here on out.
The fans of THE ORIGIN are also kind and I’m very happy.
I will do my best from here on out.
Shuuichi Ikeda (Char Aznable)
Now, we will be plunging into the foolish One Year War once again.
It will send a message that won’t lose to the Char and Sayla Arc.
Hiroko Moriguchi (Theme Song)
The “conflict” in the lyrics of “Beyond Space” is related to the One Year War of the first Gundam.
I debuted as a singer with the theme song of Z Gundam, but I feel very delighted that that acted as my link to this series.
I would like to deliver a song filled with wishes for peace.
General Director Yoshikazu Yasuhiko
I am happy to be able to welcome Lalah to the wonderful second generation of the series this time.
We will create a wonderful Loum Arc and I would like to aim even further beyond this point so that Ms. Hayami’s natural Lalah will take shape.
Everyone, thank you for your support.
In addition, a photo session with General Director Yasuhiko and Ms. Hiroko Moriguchi geared towards attendees took place. The venue became very excited while full of shock and joy at the surprise.
