TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED, an ongoing popular experience-type art exhibit held at Gallery AaMo in Tokyo Dome City, newly opened its Odaiba area on July 22nd (Sat).
This is an experience-type art exhibit by the creative company NAKED and freely uses the latest technologies in gigantic models of Tokyo’s famous landmarks and buildings to express the charms of a continuously growing “city” as part with “TOKYO” as its theme.
Like the city itself, the exhibit continuously changes every day and features interactive contents and productions that change depending on the angle and time of day. Children and adults alike will be able to enjoy this exhibit.
The Odaiba area of the exhibit features the Rainbow Bridge, which connects Odaiba to the city center, and a gigantic model made in the image of the life-sized Gundam statue, which was once the symbol of the island. The show room is an unfolding of a combination of video, sound, and light as a projection mapping and laser show experience.
Admission fees are 1,600 yen for adults, 1,400 yen for junior and high schoolers, 900 yen for elementary school students, and free for pre-school children. You can also purchase pair or family tickets at a good value. The exhibit will be held until September 3rd (Sun).
▲ Odaiba
The Tokyo Waterfront, where amusement facilities and developments for 2020 are progressing, otherwise known as Odaiba. Together with the roar of the waves, the Rainbow Bridge, which connects the city center to this area, towers over its surroundings.
Upon crossing the bridge lit up in seven colors, a gigantic model made in the image of the life-size Gundam statue appears in the world of “TOKYO ART CITY by NAKED” as a projection mapping and laser show.
▲ Shibuya Scramble Crossing
Within the chaotic supercity of TOKYO is the Shibuya scramble crossing where people and cars come and go while following public order. This installation art visualizes the “unspoken order” of the people and traffic infrastructure in Shibuya.
▲ Digital Graffiti
In the back alleys of the Shibuya area, is an amazing future experience where you can freely draw pictures or words on the walls of the town with your fingers. Change the back alleys into art; this is an interactive content that can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
▲ Bird’s-Eye View of Tokyo
This is an academic content where you can learn various information about Tokyo when you touch the icons that appear on the graphic sheet displaying the entirety of the city. This is an actual visualization of the motion of Tokyo, from its entrance, traffic infrastructures, to today’s weather, and the electricity in the area.
▲ Akihabara
Here is the “Gacha Gacha” building packed with the anime, figures, and illumination parts that make up Akihabara. When you place a coin inside, a production will begin, making this an all-new gacha gacha experience (a separate fee of 500 yen is required.)
▲ SAMURIZE from EXILE TRIBE
Here are the various signal communications that exist in the city, from traffic lights, signboards, and traffic signs to digital signs, and street media. In this exhibit, SAMURIZE mimics these communications and guides the visitor into the world of TOKYO ART CITY through performance art as a conveyor of information about the city. In the Shibuya area is a special production where the entire town beats in time with their performance as if SAMURIZE controls the music and communication. SAMURIZE’s dance is based in JPOP, the symbol of Tokyo’s pop culture, and links together not only music but also a combination of various sounds (the bustle, car horns, sounds of the train, etc) that exist in the city.
