Build Divers & THE ORIGIN Displays, Official Goods, and More! The AnimeJapan 2018 Report

The event attracted approximately 150,000 attendees! The dates for AnimeJapan 2019 have also been decided!

 

“AnimeJapan 2018”, Japan’s largest anime event, was held on March 24th (Sat) and 25th (Sun) at Tokyo Big Sight.

 

AnimeJapan is an event with numerous exhibitions by anime-affiliated companies and organizations that represent Japan both domestically and internationally, anime series exhibitions, merchandise sales, and stage events. This year, the event’s 5th year, various projects commemorating the anniversary were coordinated including all stages being made public to all attendees and the expansion of five stages.

 

Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN appeared in the “AnimeJapan 2018 Limited Original Goods” lineup, which includes merchandise such as buttons, acrylic key holders, and more, while Mobile Suit Gundam 00 was included in the “Privilege to Request for Character Drawing” event.

 

The latest up-and-coming 2018 series made appearances at the Bandai Namco Group booth.

An introduction to the world and characters of Gundam Build Divers alongside its Gunpla were displayed at the booth. An introduction to the key visuals and story of Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN: Rise of the Red Comet together with a photo panel were also on display.

 

At the Gundam Fan Club corner, they had a Gunpla exhibition, sticker distribution, and a Gundam Fan Club raffle where you could receive a Mobile Suit Gundam 00 original clear file. At the 4K ULTRA HD corner, 4K videos, including that of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam F91, were shown.

With Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN and Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters as its theme, the now of CG anime was presented at the Production Works Gallery area inside the venue. The area exhibited the differences between the two works through their production flow and techniques.

 

Information on the broadcast of Gundam Build Divers was introduced at the TV Tokyo booth while information on the broadcast of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Gundam Build Divers were introduced at the BS11 booth. The Anime Tourism Association booth also introduced how to enjoy sacred anime spots for the spring recreational season.

“Family Anime Festa 2018” was also held on the same days as AnimeJapan 2018. Gunpla and Shokugan products of mobile suits that appear in Build Divers were displayed at the Gundam Build Divers booth while “Gunpla Assembly Experience Meeting”, an activity where you can try building a “1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Assembly Experience Meeting Ver.”, was held at the Kids Workshop corner.

The event recorded its highest number of attendees and drew 152,331 people at a 105% ratio in comparison to the previous year. The event ended a great success.

It was also announced that AnimeJapan 2019 will be held at Tokyo Big Sight on March 23rd (Sat) and the 24th (Sun) with the hope of the smiles of everyone connected to anime to last. Please look forward to future updates.
