A special talk show commemorating the start of Gundam Build Diverswas held on April 8^th(Sun) at the Event Zone in the Gunpla center THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO.

Ms. Yuki Ayami hosted the event as the MC while Mr. Yusuke Kobayashi, voice of Riku Mikami, Ms. Natsumi Fujiwara, voice of Yukio Hidaka, and Sunrise Producer Masakazu Ogawa appeared as guests. The event was crowded by Build Diversand Gunpla fans alike, making the event very lively.

“DIVE TO GUNDAM BUILD DIVERS”, a Gundam Build Diversexhibit, has also opened in the center. We will introduce the exhibit together with the event report.

The event began with both actors reflecting on their thoughts when their roles had been decided. “I was just happy, but then I gradually began to feel the pressure. I was the most nervous when we were recording the first episode” (Kobayashi). “I was happy. But then I felt the nerves and pressure from being a part of a Gundamseries, so I gradually came to learn more about Gundam through this series while keeping my feelings towards a positive direction” (Fujiwara).

Next, they were asked about the “Gunpla Battle Nexus Online” game that appears in the series. Kobayashi commented, “(Through the game) you can meet people that a normal junior high schooler wouldn’t typically come into contact with, so it’s interesting.” Fujiwara commented, “I can’t stop feeling excited about the world!” Producer Ogawa also revealed an inside story about each Diver’s appearance, “They’re filled with the Director’s attentiveness and pride.”

Next was the question corner. At the question, “Can an avatar have elf or animal ears?”, Ogawa replied, “It is made to have no restrictions, so I think it’s possible.” When asked, “Will Gunpla that have appeared in the Build Fightersseries also make an appearance in this series?”, Ogawa hinted, “I can’t give you a direct answer, but Mr. Kobayashi and Ms. Fujiwara were saying ‘Bearbear’ during the latest recording so…”

They were also asked, “Is there a line from the Gundam series that you want to try voicing in the future?” Mr. Kobayashi shouted, “This hand of mine is burning red! Its loud roar tells me to seize victory! Erupting God Finger!” from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, causing loud applause to erupt from the audience. Ms. Fujiwara also raised her voice, “I did enjoy your songs. But the world isn’t as kind as the one in songs!” and the audience raised their voices in excitement.

Each person then gave their individual comments when asked about the future developments of the series. Kobayashi said, “As a beginner to GBN, Riku’s growth will be meticulously shown in the series, so I hope that everyone watches out for it.” Fujiwara continued, “Yukki gives all kinds of explanations (in the series), so this is a story that even those that don’t know anything about the Gundam series can enjoy.” Ogawa said, “Just what kind of relation do the characters that appear in the opening have with Riku? The Gunpla from works that haven’t appeared in the Build Fightersseries will also be making an appearance, so I hope that you watch out for them. This is a story with a completely remodeled world so that even those that are watching Gundam for the first time can jump into this series. I hope that everyone enjoys it.”

Here, Mr. Daisuke Hoshi from the BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Department appeared on stage. The event then entered a corner where Mr. Kobayashi and Ms. Fujiwara respectively customized “HGBD GUNDAM 00 DIVER” and “HGBD GM III BEAM MASTER”.

Both guests enjoyed customizing their Gunpla how they wanted. Mr. Kobayashi added “HGBD GUNDAM AGE II MAGNUM”’s left arm to his Gunpla while Ms. Fujiwara equipped weapons all over her Gunpla’s body. The two commented after finishing their customizations, “We had complicated images in our minds, but we didn’t think that we would be able to do it this easily with such a short amount of time.”

A present raffle was then held. “HGBD GUNDAM 00 DIVER” kits were signed by both guests and were presented to three winners.

Lastly, both guests gave their final greetings and the event came to an end.

“DIVE TO GUNDAM BUILD DIVERS”, a series corner that introduces new Gunpla from Gundam Build Diversas well as its world in greater detail, is currently being held at GUNDAM BASE TOKYO.
