The annual French exhibition which celebrates the diversity of Japanese culture, Japan Expo, was held again this year from July 4, 2019 (Thu) through July 7, 2019 (Sun) for 4 days at the Nord Villepinte convention center in Paris.

For the 20th event, director Yoshiyuki Tomino appeared as a guest of honor, commemorating the 40th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam". Besides holding panels (talk sessions), master classes (special lectures), and autograph sessions, there was the world premiere of the theatrical version of "Reconguista in G" Part 1 "Go! Core Fighter".

The screening event venue was filled with lots of fans who were looking forward to seeing director Tomino and the theatrical version of "Reconguista in G", and after the screening there was a standing ovation.

At the talk session after the screening, director Tomino politely answered questions from enthusiastic fans, and concluded with "Today, in this way, I was able to come to a place such as this, from the bottom of my heart thank you very much. Doumo arigatougozaimashita. Merci beaucoup." And the event concluded with thunderous applause.

The theatrical version "Gundam Reconguista in G" includes new cuts to the 2014 TV broadcast work in a re-edited video format. 5 parts in all, it will be released in 2019. Look forward to the followup news.

The "Reconguista in G" title has the word "Gundam" attached to it, but it is a work that has no relation to it. That's why those who knew of the "Gundam" work disliked it, saying "I can't understand". However, those who didn't know of this type of anime, when it was broadcast on air, it became somewhat popular.

Also, when it was on air in Japan, it was only broadcast late at night, so to me it didn't feel like it was fully made available to the public. However, as I just said, some of the younger people supported it, and if that's the case, I want to remake it properly, in the form of this theatrical version as a new work, and was able to finally release it publically today. As such, I apologize for asking this of everyone gathered here, but if you could have your children see these movies, I would be very happy.

And, as customary for this venue, when a producer comes like this, they are expected to talk about various things. However, as I said, the work "Reconguista in G" is a completely new type of work, first please see it, and after that we will have time for questions.

It's not necessary for adults to find this enjoyable, please watch it through the eyes of a child and enjoy it.
