On Tuesday, July 11th, Bandai Namco Holdings Co., Ltd. signed a collaboration agreement with the 2025 Japan World Expo Osaka Pavilion Promotion Committee for the Pavilion exhibition at the 2025 Japan World Expo (Osaka-Kansai Expo).
The Bandai Namco Group has established 'Fun for All into the Future' as its purpose (meaningful existence in society), recognizing sustainable activities as a crucial initiative in its business strategy. It prioritizes 'Sustainability: Connecting Smiles to the Future' as a key strategy.
Engaging fans, partners, employees, and society in promoting sustainable activities toward the realization of a sustainable society, the Osaka-Kansai Expo will showcase the Gundam Pavilion (name TBD) centered around the group's representative IP, Mobile Suit Gundam. Set in 'Another Universe Century,' the pavilion envisions the possibilities of the future as depicted by Mobile Suit Gundam.
Furthermore, Osaka Prefecture and City, with the theme of "REBORN," expressing the belief that "individuals can be reborn" and "take a new step forward," will exhibit the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion Nest for Reborn at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. Through collaboration, they aim to generate more enthusiasm for the expo and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mobile Suit Gundam is striving for growth from Intellectual Property to Social Icon (SP) and is promoting the GUNDAM UNIVERSAL CENTURY DEVELOPMENT ACTION Project as an initiative to address various societal issues. Through this collaboration agreement, sustainable initiatives focusing on the Osaka area will be implemented. As the first step, they plan to launch the GUNPLA Academy, targeting elementary schools in Osaka Prefecture. This program will enable students to learn about sustainable manufacturing processes, from the planning of plastic models to design, mold production, and the introduction of cutting-edge technologies, as well as recycling plastic waste. They aim to support education on SDGs and other topics through Gundam model creation, designing a future society that shines with life, alongside the children who will shape the future.
Today, a press conference was held with the participation of Governor of Osaka Prefecture, Mr. Hirofumi Yoshimura, Mayor of Osaka City, Mr. Hideyuki Yokoyama, and Chief Gundam Officer (CGO) of Bandai Namco Group, Mr. Koji Fujiwara.
Governor Yoshimura expressed his connection to the Gundam series, stating, "I am also from the Gundam generation. I grew up with 'Amuro, Launching!'" Mayor Yokoyama shared, "My child loves Gundam, and collects GUNPLA from THE WITCH FROM MERCURY to Iron-Blooded Orphans."
When Mr. Fujiwara, the CGO, handed over a GUNPLA designed with the logo colors of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion, Governor Yoshimura showed a smiling face.
Please look forward to further updates on the Gundam Pavilion (name TBD) and the GUNDAM UNIVERSAL CENTURY DEVELOPMENT ACTION Project.
