THE GUNDAM BASE VIRTUAL WORLD -Trial Version- Opens Its Test Run Today for a Limited Period!

It’s a space in which you can enjoy virtual GUNPLA entertainment from all sides!

Today, August 19th, BANDAI SPIRITS CO., LTD. has started a Japan-only, limited-time test run of THE GUNDAM BASE VIRTUAL WORLD -Trial Version-, the first trial in its quest to create an online space where you can go to enjoy virtual GUNPLA entertainment no matter where you are in the world.

Anyone can enter this newly-created VIRTUAL WORLD simply by using their web browser. Users can move freely around the online facility and experience a kind of virtual GUNPLA entertainment that is possible exactly because it is online: life-sized virtual dioramas, a theater with several watchable videos, a gallery exhibiting the history of Gundam and GUNPLA on its walls, a tour of the facility while looking for Haro, and all sorts of exhibitions and products.
For this test run, two hundred and eighty products are available, including limited-edition products.

This website is a Trial Version. It is a test run aimed at making sure of the possibilities of virtual GUNPLA entertainment, for the purpose of building a THE GUNDAM BASE virtual space.
We will later make use of the reviews collected from visitors of the Trial Version through a survey to further improve the space and scale it for worldwide expansion.

■SPECIAL GUNPLA CORNER
The SPECIAL GUNPLA CORNER has a statue of the GUNPLA PG UNLEASHED 1/60 RX-78-2 Gundam and it has an area in which limited-edition products and other interesting products are on display and on sale.

■UNIVERSAL CENTURY ROOM
This room focuses on exhibiting and selling products from the Universal Century series, and there is a statue of RG 1/44 Zeong in its center. You can find products you may like in the special purchasing pods.

■ANOTHER GUNDAM ROOM
This room focuses on exhibiting and selling products from non-Universal Century series, and there is a statue of RG 1/44 Freedom Gundam in its center. You can find products you may like in the special purchasing pods.

■HANGAR of PG UNLEASHED RX-78-2 Gundam
In this area, you can observe a virtual diorama of a PG UNLEASHED RX-78-2 Gundam under maintenance in a hangar. You can look at the Gundam’s maintenance scene from below and enjoy a brand-new diorama experience that will make you feel as if you are inside of it.

■GUNPLA HISTORY GALLERY
In this special area, you can look at Gundam’s and GUNPLA’s timeline so far. Unravel the thread of their evolution’s history which connects to the future.

■G-THEATER
In this special area, you can watch videos related to GUNPLA and Gundam. During the test run, the video line-up will be renewed each week. Sit back and watch them from the dedicated theater.

■GUNPLA FACTORY NEXUS TOUR RIDE online edition
The special opening video for the futuristic GUNPLA factory GUNPLA FACTORY NEXUS is available in a new montage made exclusively for this event. The video was first screened at the GUNPLA EXPO TOKYO 2020 feat. GUNDAM conference, an event held in November last year to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of GUNPLA.

■Photo Spot
Here you can take photos in front of the PG UNLEASHED 1/60 RX-78-2 Gundam statue or next to the Zeong statue and the Freedom Gundam statue located in the rooms.

Gundam has been appointed as the PR Ambassador of the Japan Pavilion at the EXPO 2020 Dubai, scheduled to start on Friday, October 1st, in Dubai (United Arab Emirates). The mechanic designer Kunio Okawara designed an EXPO 2020 Dubai PR Ambassador of the Japan Pavilion Gundam for the occasion, and it has now become a 1/144 scale GUNPLA made with new metal molds and new stickers.
You can look at its impressive design down to the finest details in THE GUNDAM BASE VIRTUAL WORLD, as it is exhibited in 360 degrees (3D View).

1. Recreated with New Metal Molds

The PR Ambassador Gundam has been recreated with new metal molds, based on the blueprints of the HG Gundam that went on sale in 2015. It has fine proportions and a good range of movements, and it has been redesigned to obtain both ease of assemblage and recreation of colors that allows for easy parts grouping.
The impressive coloring of its arms, abdomen, front armor, hips, legs, and Beam Sabers has been reproduced by color-casting and parts division. The white lines on its arms and legs have been detailedly reproduced with stickers and molding.
The verniers added to its calves have been reproduced as well. It comes with new hand parts that allow it to stage action scenes.

2. Includes Original Marking Stickers
It includes Japan-inspired marking stickers designed by Kunio Okawara. Kanji characters are incorporated in their design to give a sense of Japanese-ness.

3. Comes with a Specially-Made Leaflet Carrying an Exclusive Interview with Kunio Okawara
It comes with a specially-made leaflet that carries an exclusive interview with Kunio Okawara regarding the EXPO 2020 Dubai PR Ambassador of the Japan Pavilion Gundam.

4. Limited-Edition Full Color Packaging
The GUNPLA comes in beautiful limited-edition packaging, with red hot-stamping over a full-color print. The box has a contrast of red and white and carries the EXPO 2020 Dubai Japan Pavilion motifs “A gentle image of Japan” and ”Hemp leaf pattern.”
