A Report on GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA’s November 3rd Sustainability Day and Merchandise Information

Participants were given an Ecopla GUNPLA kit as a special gift!

The GUNDAM FACTORY YOKOHAMA (GFY), a facility where the dream of seeing an 18m life-size moving Gundam was made reality, held a free Sustainable Day event on November 3rd.

This event was part of BANDAI NAMCO GROUP’s cross-company project, the Gundam Project, linked to the Gundam R (Recycle) Strategy that aims to create more awareness of sustainability.
On a first-come-first-served basis, participants received a special pamphlet and the Ecopla 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Assembly Experience Ver., an Ecopla GUNPLA kit made out of recycled materials so each kit has individual differences in the color.

There was also a Runner Collection Box where participants could bring used runners from previously built GUNPLAs to recycle. There was a space where participants could enjoy building GUNPLAs, so by putting the runners in the recycling box right after they were finished, it allowed them to experience part of the recycling process up-close.

THE GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite and the GUNDAM Café YOKOHAMA Satellite were in business during the event, too.

A lot of people came to GFY!

The moving Gundam did its thing, and the sight of the Gundam against the cloudless blue sky was a thrilling one. Participants took video and pictures as they smiled while they commemorated the moment.
Many people went up to the GUNDAM-DOCK TOWER, an impressive special observation deck where you can see the moving Gundam’s head and body up close from a height of 15-18 meters.
Along with the FOOD TRUCK offering tapioca drinks in original GFY clear bottles and Haro popcorn cases, there were also vending machine-style Gundams made through a collaboration between the canned coffee Georgia Emerald Mountain Blend and Mobile Suit Gundam that caused a stir.

Gundam R (Recycle) Strategy

While runner recycling boxes were added for this event, they’re always available at THE GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite, so please bring any runners you have at home to the facility whenever you’d like to visit.

The shop offers GFY original GUNPLA figures as well as a variety of original merchandise including souvenirs.
The shop’s bag has a design of the RX-78F00 Gundam on it, and it’s a bag that can only be obtained at THE GUNDAM BASE YOKOHAMA Satellite, so make sure to get your own!

GUNDAM Café YOKOHAMA Satellite

GUNDAM Café YOKOHAMA Satellite offers various types of food and drink and has both interior and terrace seats available. You can see the moving Gundam from the terrace seats, so it’s recommended to take the chance to watch the Gundam as you enjoy a meal.
The flyers in the rack inside offer special coupons that can be used at other GUNDAM Café stores, so make sure to check those out.

GFY is only open for a limited time until Thursday, March 31, 2022. The latest information is always being updated on the official Twitter (@gfy_official_), so please make sure to follow them.

The closest station to GFY is Motomachi Chukagai on the Minatomirai Line, and there’s a big GFY sign at exit 4 as a guide. There are many Gashapon machines set at the bottom of the elevator outside of the ticket gates that are all carrying Gundam-related items. Please stop by before or after you go to GFY!

Also, a wrapped train featuring GFY’s moving Gundam is running on the Minatomirai Line. One Y500 train is decorated and will be running for a limited time until March 2022. There are also trains running on the Tokyu Toyoko Line, the Fukutoshin Line, the Seibu Yurakucho Line, Seibu Ikebukuro Line, the Seibu Sayama Line, and the Tobu-Tojo Line.
