The Bandai Namco Group project, the Gundam Project, had its prayer ceremony for safe installation and the head-docking process on Wednesday, December 22nd, for the TX-93ff vGundam life-size statue that is currently being built at Lalaport Fukuoka, scheduled to open in April 2022. More details about the statue were also revealed.
The life-size Gundam statue of the RX-93ff vGundam that is being built to match the opening of Kyushu’s first Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Fukuoka will start being displayed in April 2022. This is the 6th life-size Gundam statue in history (excluding the moving Gundam), and is the first one to be built in western Japan.
The vGundam appeared in the first original movie in the Gundam series, Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack, and is still very popular both in and outside Japan. Yoshiyuki Tomino, the general director of the series, is supervising the building of the statue, which has a new design and will be the tallest life-size Gundam statue in history at 24.8 meters.
There will also be Gundam Park Fukuoka, an entertainment facility where guests can enjoy the world of Gundam, inside Lalaport Fukuoka. It’s being developed by BandaiNamco Amusement and BANDAI SPIRITS. It’s a Gundam complex space that combines a Gundam entertainment facility with open space, and will become a new Gundam spot that hasn’t been seen before. More details will be announced in the future, so please look forward to it.
